December 31, 2008 - LivingHour.org has announced the launch of its new progressive Christian e-book, The Living Hour: The Lord’s Prayer for Daily Life. The new Bible study book challenges readers’ preconceptions on The New Testament and provides fresh insight into The Lord’s Prayer, Jesus’s parables, and the spiritual life.
The work was created as an e-book for easy reading and navigation. It includes over 200 clickable bookmarked Gospel citations, as well as searchable texts of all 4 canonical Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The book thus can be conveniently used to enhance and guide dialogue in discussion groups and Bible study classes.
“The Lord’s Prayer is really the Rosetta stone for the gospel of Christ,” says Pastor David, “so with this book, we try to unlock some of the mystery surrounding Jesus’s most enigmatic teachings.” The book is divided into twelve chapters, corresponding with 12 lines of The Lord’s Prayer, and covers such topics as: understanding our relationship to the Father, God’s will, and His kingdom; overcoming our egos; and understanding God time.
“The book is especially suited to anyone with a progressive and enlightened attitude toward faith and religion,” says Pastor David. “We hope its message will appeal to all those who seek a richer spiritual life, regardless of their religious persuasion. Even agnostics such as Bill Maher, whose documentary Religulous we actually quite enjoyed, we believe will be challenged by this work. At The Living Hour, we think that reason and faith must walk hand in hand.”
