October 04, 2007 - LIAJ Bridal & Floral Design is pleased to announce that the company has been certified as a Minority Woman Business Enterprise (MWBE). State certification was granted by the New York Empire State Development Corporation. Corporations depend upon certification when making decisions about hiring small companies.
Since only companies that meet state standards can be certified, the process helps large firms with quality assurance. In order to meet the state criteria, a company must be at least 51% woman-owned, must operate independently, and must demonstrate a strong track record in experience, technical capabilities, and business competence.
“Certification as an MWBE marks a milestone for us at LIAJ Bridal,” said Ivette Attaud-Jones, Owner of the company. The value of MWBE certification benefits both a certified company and its clients. For LIAJ Bridal, the certification results in vendor approval with more than 1,000 major U.S. corporations that have active supplier-diversity programs.
“As a New York MWBE certified vendor providing floral services this is great news, since the number of vendors in this category are so few. Their standards are tough, but it is particularly important to remember that small businesses need to aggressively pursue every path available to them to achieve and maintain a strong competitive advantage. Making the effort to become certified demonstrates to our clients that we took their advice seriously."
