June 08, 2007 - Whitehouse Mainwaring Design Ltd has launched “The Fireworks”, a brand new concept in shared office accommodation exclusively for small creative sector businesses. And they celebrated the launch day by helping lift boxes for their first tenant, Tangerine Trees Business Consultancy.
Paul Whitehouse, MD of Whitehouse Mainwaring, the established Birmingham-based design specialists, said, “Its so exciting to get The Fireworks launched, and Tangerine Trees will provide the first of many relationships that can develop opportunities for all of us. We are choosing our tenants very carefully because The Fireworks is not simply about renting space. Its vital that the tenants like us, we like them and we can all work together. We want to create a synergy where all the companies in The Fireworks can share ideas, expertise and offer a more complete service to all our customers.”
Although the historic Jewellery Quarter has long been known as Birmingham’s creative district, high rents often mean that small media, design and creative businesses simply can’t afford to take space there. “The Fireworks” is intended to provide flexible office and studio space in a Grade II listed former fire station, ideally suited to micro businesses of less than five people.
The Creative Industries Programme initiative, administered by Birmingham City Council, provides potential support for creative businesses looking to take office space in the city. The scheme is designed to assist both new and existing small to medium sized enterprises within Birmingham and Solihull. It offers an opportunity for small businesses to make the move into their first office space, or from an existing space with a grant scheme. The initiative provides qualifying business with a grant for eligible costs including rent, stationery, signage and relocation costs.
