If you didn't get enough of the Brothers Gill in PUNAHOU BLUES and MOLOKA'I NUI AHINA, here's your chance to reconnect.
The setting is the grandmother's mountain property and we tag along on the hunt for a buck. It starts with Ben firing his new rifle across Kainalu Valley, from a perch above Brownie's Gulch, at a deer on the opposite ridge.
"The Prince of Wales" is what the grandmother calls Ben because she thinks his parents spoiled him and, because he has the mother's blonde hair and good looks.
The trek down through the valley is interesting historically—the brothers discover the huge wall the Ancient Hawaiians built to designate land divisions.
Good descriptions of a rugged landscape, you can tell the author was influenced by Hemingway.
