LeisureMix was started in 2006 by sailing enthusiast David Bozward who saw a need to connect people who only meet occasionally while doing their favorite sport. These people may see each other three or four times a year yet would like a more permanent way of keeping in touch and sharing their experiences. After a year of development and user trials the site has finally been launched in March 2007. The site will be free to users and funded by advertisements.
