May 09, 2009 - Lehman, Lee & Xu’s associates Aldo Settimio Boni de Nobili and Matthew McKee have been asked to present a webinar in cooperation with Compliance and Risks on the new China Regulations for the Administration of the Recovery and Disposal of Waste Electrical and Electronic Products (China WEEE) which supplements China's RoHS legislation (Measures for the Administration of the Control of Pollution by Electronic Information Products) and which will enter into force in 2011. These regulations represent a radical departure from the previous regulations in the area and will have wide reaching implications for key industry players.
“The new regulations are significant, primarily because they impose compulsory obligations on manufacturers” states Boni de Nobili. “China has come on in leaps and bounds in terms of environmental regulations in recent years”.
Furthermore the rules have their own unique features “The RoHS/WEEE legislation highlights substantial differences with analogous European legislation and affects businesses engaged in the manufacturing, importation and distribution of electrical and electronic products.” According to McKee.
Lehman, Lee & Xu has been assisting foreign clients with their business dealings in China since its inception in 1992 and has developed a strong product compliance practice helping businesses understand and navigate the various laws, regulations and standards applicable to their products.
