December 13, 2008 - On Friday 12 December Legal & General employee Phil Wicks raced in Liverpool in the British cross country trial race for the European cross championships. Phil came 6th in the senior men's race and has been selected to run for Great Britain in his first European Cross Country Championships. The race will be held in Brussels, Belgium on Sunday 14th December.
As well as working for Legal & General Phil is a member of their Young Excellence Scheme. This scheme supports young people who have shown exceptional sporting, musical or creative talent and aims to assist youngsters at the start of their careers, helping them to pursue their ambitions more than would otherwise be possible.
Phil commented, “I’m really excited to be running in my first European championships and looking forward to competing for Great Britain against some of the best runners in Europe.”
The race this Sunday is live on BBC2 at 14:05pm (UK time).
