March 10, 2007 - New Delhi, Mar 6: Yadav had met CPI (M) general secretary Prakash Karat yesterday to seek his support in his move to build a political case against the Congress and the CBI. But Karat refused to come on board and advised him to prepare for electoral battle and let the court proceedings go on.
Yadav was remined of Jayalalitha case which was similar to him. The chief minister was told that nobody would buy his theory of criminal conspiracy.
According to a senior CPI (M) leader Amar Singh who had accompaned Yadav and was carrying a CD which he claimed proved the conspiracy theory, was told to present the evidence if any before the court instead of making it a politcal drama.
Both were also told to concentrate on the assembly elections. The CPI(M) source said case by the CBI dominated the talks, but Yadav did offer support on four and five seats to the CPI(M), but was told that the party would like to contest alone and not even considering to have an proper alliance with CPI, which has a little presence in the northern state.
The sources say Yadav also received similar response from the Lok Sabha Speaker when he called on him. The Speaker, however, assured him that he would see the CD and looked into whether a privilege case could be made out against the petitioner who had filed the case against Yadav and four others including his MP son Akhilesh Yadav.
Yadav who would be meeting the President APJ Abdul Kalam in the evening is expected to offer a second term to him in return to his support. The sources in the President House say the President Kalam would be going by what rule book and law of the land say in this case.
