Leading Private Tutor Agency Launches New Scheme Enabling Groups Of Home-Schooling Families To Share The Costs Of A Full-Time Live-In Tutor

Adam Caller, founder of Tutors International, describes how the new 'cooperative' scheme has been launched to address the needs of home-schooling families that want to share the services of a full-time private tutor between their children.

(1888PressRelease) December 17, 2008 - Tutors International announces the launch of a new cooperative scheme to enable small groups of families to employ one full-time live-in tutor in order to benefit all the children of the participating families. Adam Caller, founder of Tutors International explained "Over the past few months we have received several queries from parents wondering whether they could effectively 'share' a tutor with another family, hence the development of this 'cooperative' scheme." For more information, visit www.tutors-international.com or call +44 (0) 1865 435 135.

"The reasons behind these queries vary," Adam continued. "For some it is because they want to split the costs, for others it's because they would only need the tutor for certain subjects, or at certain times. It makes sense, but we needed to give it careful thought to make sure that the tutor isn't disadvantaged by such an arrangement. As a result, we have developed what we informally call a 'cooperative' scheme for families who wish to employ a full-time live-in tutor as a group."

"There are some very important criteria however," Adam cautions. "The first is that one family has to take all of the responsibility for the contract, and be the single point of contact for Tutors International. Without this, both ourselves and the tutor could be pulled in different directions. It also means," Adam adds, "that if one family pulls out, the contracted wage for that tutor still must be met, so this is a huge responsibility. Secondly, the tutor's contract is no different to a tutor assigned to work with only one family. The tutor still works the same number of hours per week, and that this has to be strictly adhered to – we don't want a tutor to end up working several hours more to keep all families involved happy. These rules may seem strict," Adam concluded, "but they guarantee that the interests of the tutor and the children involved are met fairly and without risk."
