March 14, 2008 - Laura’s Gourmet, LLC is pleased to announce the availability of Laura's Gourmet Granola in Whole Foods Markets in Southern California beginning March 2008.
Already available in high end grocery stores throughout Arizona, including AJ’s Fine Foods and Whole Foods, and throughout Texas at Central Market, Laura's Gourmet Granola is an all natural line of granola that is trans-fat free and all natural. Vanilla Almond Crunch and Honey Roasted Peanut Crunch are available throughout the year. Pumpkin Pecan Crunch previously only available in the fall is now available all year, due to consumer demand.
“We are very excited to have the opportunity to share our line of all natural gourmet granola with consumers in California” says Chef Laura Slama, owner of Laura’s Gourmet and Celebrated Cuisine, a business that is devoted to elegant events and culinary instruction. “In conjunction with our distributor, Gourmet Merchants International, we plan to distribute Laura’s Gourmet Granola to all Whole Foods stores in California alone in addition to our existing stores in Arizona and Texas”. In 2007, Laura's Gourmet Granola shipped over 10000 pounds of granola. Business in 2008 is forecasted to nearly double.
The idea for a granola business came after Slama found a granola recipe in a magazine and tried it. While it was good, it was too fattening, so Slama tweaked the recipe to make it more healthful, and her best friend told her, "You need to sell this."
Slama finally made her granola available to the public and found great success. AJ's Fine Foods in Arizona began stocking it in 2004. Other higher-end stores, including local Whole Foods locations, also picked it up. Now Laura’s Gourmet Granola has found success in Arizona and Texas.
