March 25, 2009 - It's on again Perisher's (a ski resort in Australia offering ski & vacation packages) annual Launch Your Band Competition is calling for entries for 2009. This awesome competition gives unsigned musicians a chance to have their music heard. Entry is free and open to unsigned bands, electronic groups, DJ's, solo acts and anybody looking to get their music out there. Supporting local music talent, Perisher will feature the winning song as the soundtrack for the 2009 Perisher Freeride TV commercials to gain airplay over the upcoming snow season.
Last year's winners Burn the Drama took home a snow holiday, a Nikon camera, Burton gear, Lonsdale clothing packs and played live at the Spring Carnival in 2008 with their winning song 'Live in the Moment'. Burn the Drama's lead guitarist and vocalist, Steve Mulligan, had this to say about their Launch Your Band win in 2008:
"Having our song heard on TV is awesome widespread exposure for the band. We have sweated for any ounce of exposure that we have had, and when something like Launch Your Band comes along, it's a terrific shot in the arm..." Burn the Drama will soon be launching their new album The Anger and the Ego... stay tuned!
Other fantastic prizes (see details on following page) include a live performance at the Perisher Spring Carnival, a Perisher snow holiday, PlayStation(r)3 SingStar packs, Nikon digital cameras and Lonsdale clothing packs. Entries can be submitted via the Launch Your Band website www.launchyourband.com.au, which contains all competition details, plus terms and conditions. This interactive site also hosts an online jukebox containing all Launch Your Band entries, which users can listen to.
