Launch Of "Odijoo" To Revolutionize E-learning

New website offers first ever virtual marketplace to create, share and monetize educational content.

(1888PressRelease) November 03, 2009 - Vancouver, BC – Imagine being able to quickly develop and share course content around the world within minutes for free and then turn a profit selling your knowledge. That’s the concept behind Odijoo, the first ever community-driven e-learning marketplace that provides a secure one stop shop for users to create, publish, share, sell and syndicate online courses on any subject in any discipline.

Odijoo is designed for small to medium sized businesses, subject matter experts, trainers, facilitators, and government organizations that want to train, educate and certify staff, association members, students or the general public. Unlike other online learning solutions, Odijoo allows users to have their own private, personalized and secure, and branded “Odijoo campus” in the form of an online storefront, where users can store, administer and promote their Odijoo courses. Campuses are designed for smaller businesses and organizations, that need to train their employees under a tight budget.

From ESL courses to safety compliance and tourism, the spectrum for content is vast. Before now, creating online courses required expensive outsourcing of programming, hosting and platform development. With the launch of Odijoo, there is now a free, easy-to-use, one stop shop for creating educational content online with solutions for content development, learning management, hosting, e-commerce and social networking tools.

Odijoo is the brainchild of Shevy Levy founder of Vancouver-based, Lambda Solutions, an e-learning solutions provider that offers hosting, customization, support, training and course content development for clients like PMC-Sierra, Rogers, Simon Fraser University and BC Hydro.

“Through our work at Lambda, we came to recognize that there was a huge market opportunity to create an e-learning platform for small to medium businesses that would be completely self sufficient and community driven like social media sites, Twitter and Facebook,” said Shevy Levy, President of Lambda Solutions and visionary behind Odijoo. “We are very excited about the mass potential of Odijoo as the ‘eBay of knowledge’ where anyone can trade course content freely and experience the power of shared learning without third party intervention.”

Since the launch date on October 6, 2009, already over 500 Odijoo user accounts have been created and numerous new online courses have been posted . It is expected that more than 20,000 new students will sign up for new courses by the beginning of Spring 2010.

Odijoo courses can be created directly on the Odijoo Authoring Tool or uploaded from Power Point files. Users can incorporate features such as formatted text, audio narration, video, images and more. Once a course is created, the content can be offered for sale to other Odijoo teachers and trainers as a syndicated course, or imported into a classroom and delivered to students. The Odijoo classroom is a virtual space which contains an imported course, an administrator, teachers and classroom activities. Classroom activities include quizzes, classroom discussions, uploaded files and completion reports (report cards). Odijoo classrooms can be offered to learners for free or for an enrollment price. Classroom enrollment can be by invitation only, to a select group of users, or public, whereby the classroom is instantly shared with every Odijoo user in the Odijoo Marketplace.

The Odijoo Marketplace is a place where knowledge is exchanged in Odijoo and is part of Odijoo’s social networking component. Odijoo’s other social networking features including adding friends as contacts, sending messages and rating courses.
