(1888PressRelease) February 24, 2007 - Lantz-Boggio Architects, a Denver-based nationally recognized Architecture, Planning and Interior-design firm has teamed with the Loveland Housing Authority and Mark Young construction to build a master-planned, service-enhanced and maintenance-free senior living community called Mirasol, the first of its kind in the Loveland area.

Designed in a Southwestern-style, the $23 million campus will consist of 49 affordable apartment units ranging from a 1-bdrm unit at 680sq ft to a 2-bdrm unit at 880 sq ft with a total area of 60,000 sq ft. Additional features of Mirasol consists of a 5,700sq ft Community Events Center and 55 single family, paired rental and homeownership units ranging from 1010sq ft to 1677sq ft all in a 2-bdrm/2 bath configuration and incorporating universal design features that allow seniors to age in place.

The site plan and buildings were designed with New Urbanism concepts in mind. The community was organized around smaller “neighborhoods”, each with their own identity yet all related to each other. The town square connects each neighborhood with the community building which serves as the lifestyle center and all the residents, whether they rent or own, share the same amenities and benefits of the community. Automobiles are deemphasized by designing the garages in the alleys or at the back of the houses. The main living areas and front porches are built at the front to increase interaction and spontaneous socialization of the residences.

Detached, tree-lined sidewalks are also utilized to enhance socialization and views. Finally, a variety of home facades were incorporated to increase vitality, interest and ease of navigating.

Sam Betters of the Loveland Housing Authority states, ”After over three years in planning, design and development we are very excited to have Mirasol become a reality. Mirasol will truly be a first of a kind community, offering a variety of affordable housing options and services in a vibrant setting designed to enhance seniors’ quality of life.
