  • Orlando, FL (1888PressRelease) October 30, 2014 - New local book captures history of town using vintage images.

Residents and tourists know Lake Mary for its beaches and attractions, but there is so much more to this beautiful town's story. New from Arcadia Publishing's Images of America series is Lake Mary by local author, John Hope. Dating back to the late-1800s, this new book contains more than 200 vintage images telling the stories of Lake Mary's founding communities.

Lake Mary celebrates the town's early settlers and developers who saw value in the land. "Readers can learn about the original central Florida settlers, from the Seminole tribes to Swedish immigrant farmers and their families including A.E Sjoblom as well as the growth of the town and the key residents, including Frank Evans, who've helped to attract business and build a thriving community," Hope said.

The vintage images reveal additional Florida history, including certain events, like WWII and Hurricane Donna impacted the Lake Mary community. "I hope the book provides Lake Mary's current and future residents with a lasting record of the town's beautiful history as the city continues to be one of the best cities to live and work in," Hope said.
