KRFU does 2352 passes as part of its record making "The world's longest try" attempt

Karnataka Rugby Football Union, a registered Society committed to the promotion of rugby in Karnataka, today completed 2352 legitimate passes as part of its record making attempt over 4 segments of 15 minutes at BRV Grounds in Bangalore. The team had 11 misses right across the try which is way below the 1% error margins allowed as part of such record making attempts.


(1888PressRelease) September 26, 2009 - Bangalore - Karnataka Rugby Football Union, a registered Society committed to the promotion of rugby in Karnataka, today completed 2352 legitimate passes as part of its record making attempt over 4 segments of 15 minutes at BRV Grounds in Bangalore. The team had 11 misses right across the try which is way below the 1% error margins allowed as part of such record making attempts. Members of the Bangalore U16 team and volunteers from Dream a Dream participated in the attempt. Adam Whittington, Coach Bangalore U16 team was also part of the record making attempt besides Vinay Rai, model, actor and ex-rugby player. Dave Armstrong, Volunteer Coach, Bangalore U16 team, kept the record of the time and the passes. The event raised funds beyond the expectations of the organizers.

In his comments, Vinay Rai, said,” Bangalore is yet to etch its name in the famed rugby trophy and we are hoping awareness attempts like these encourage more and more students to start playing a rugby creating a pool of talent that ensures we succeed at the national level.”

According to Dave Armstrong, Volunteer Coach, Bangalore U16 team,” We have mailed in advance the process we will be following to Limca Book of Records and within a week we will be sending the entire dossier to the Editor of Limca Book of Records. The 2010 edition has already gone for printing and thus we are aiming to find a mention in the 2011 edition.”
