June 05, 2008 - SAN MATEO – Getting healthy should and can be a family affair. Kids Culinary Adventures aims to help get your children learning about a better them with educational cooking classes, life lessons and fun.
Chef Gigi and the KCA crew will be at On the Move this year at San Mateo’s Central Park Saturday, June 7 helping make healthy eating and cooking a family affair. On the Move aims to promote healthy living and it’s never too early to begin working on those habits.
“There’s plenty of stuff for adults, but not much for kids,” said Chef Gigi who will be changing that this year by teaching kids how to build and maintain a culinary pizza or pasta mini-garden.
The lesson, based on the five-day camp offered this summer called Eat Your Own Biosphere, utilizes growing veggies in a small space that can be used for yummy recipes that kids can make themselves.
Chef Gigi will help children begin exploring the worlds of planting, growing, maintaining and eating their own biosphere. Children can take that lesson one step farther this summer at camp by cooking scrumptious, and nutritious, recipes using their homegrown produce.
Children can also explore a wonderful new line of culinary essentials for the young chefs now offered by KCA. No one will walk away empty handed as free goodies will also be part of the fun.
Kids Culinary Adventures offers cooking classes for children, parents and adults by combining fun, cleanliness and responsibility in Belmont, Calif. Skills are the same for any culinary student, regardless of age. Instead of teaching it in a straightforward manner, KCA presents lessons in kid-friendly non-threatening terms. At the same time, children will have a chance to explore other cultures, new life lessons and even academic topics.
Chef Gigi is a classically trained chef who graduated with honors from the California Culinary Academy, earned a certificate from pastry instruction in Europe, and graduated cum laude from the American Intercontinental University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
