As a teenager, I remember scouring six malls to find prom shoes in a women's size 11 to match my luxurious gown. Do you know how hard it is to find shoes in anything larger than size 10? Boutique assistants rolled their eyes and giggled when I asked if this Dolce and Gabbana sling back came in my size, 11. No such luck but, they did bring me the shapeless taupe flats and square toe pumps that I would never wear!
After ten years of being in stylish outfits and dowdy shoes, I decided that if the shoe doesn’t fit… I must make my own. Women with big feet, take heart!
Inspired by the wardrobe of Dottie Kerrigan, who epitomized the 1920s flapper and followed the style standard – elegant and classic - Kathryn Kerrigan Footwear was created based on these principles. Dottie’s closet was full of classic colors, shapes and styles, but most importantly they were made of quality materials.
And now my gal pals, who like me, wear larger shoe sizes have options to go with their wardrobe. We want to wear elegant heels, and sophisticated flats. Kathryn Kerrigan Footwear is the first luxury, fashion footwear company to specifically design shoes for women who wear larger sizes.
