August 08, 2007 - Kate Rizor's novel 'The Governor's Wife', published less than a year ago, found little attention from bookstores and libraries. Now, the author says that the novel is gaining ground.
Thanks in part to sales at events such as the Richland County Fair, two local bookstores and a few other venues, she immediately sold tonnes of books to fans--fans who later went onto all kinds of websites such as www.authorsden.com, www.amazon.com and www.bandn.com to declare their love for this novel.
The Governor's Wife, published by Stargazer Press (Independent Publishing Company) is an amazing, contemporary romance that many reviewers have described as 'uplifting' or 'an excellent read.' One fan said her husband enjoyed the book and wondered if that was OK. Another said how she kept the book until she went to the cottage and it absolutely did not disappoint. Another still complimented her on her writing style, saying that she read very few books.
The support has been strongest from fans, many who have bought off her website directly at www.katerizor.com or those who have purchased her books through other means. Very few authors are brave enough to list their emails in their books but it has worked out well with fans emailing through their praise.
Lately, Ms. Rizor has been invited to coffee shops to put on book signings, often donating a percentage of sales to the SPCA. She even did a book signing at the local Petsmart in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Ms. Rizor hopes to be stocked in more gift shops and more cafes, places where her sales are strongest and support is greatest.
