April 09, 2007 - For over the past 19 Years, the Honorable Judge James M. DeLeon, III has presided over thousands of court cases, carefully protecting and guarding the interest of the citizens of Pennsylvania.
The Honorable James M. DeLeon is a soft-spoken well-mannered, quick thinking, and sharp-witted veteran of the Philadelphia Municipal Court. A nationally recognized Judge, Deleon has over 20 years of legal and judicial experience. He considers himself a “Judicial Vet” having presided over 100,000 cases. DeLeon remains committed to the people of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Commitment to excellence, fairness, and judicial accountability are all qualities DeLeon brings to the Pennsylvania Superior Court.

Judge James DeLeon was elected to the Philadelphia Municipal Count in 1987. He has served as a Supervising Judge of the Criminal Division since January 1999, and is temporary assigned to preside as a Judge in Court of Common Pleas of the Philadelphia County (Criminal Division). After being elected to the Municipal Court in 1987, DeLeon has served the citizens of this Commonwealth as a Judge who is fair and impartial.
When he is not working in his official capacity, DeLeon divides his time between the Kaiserman Jewish Community Center as a Red Cross and Water and Safety Lifeguard Instructor, the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association as a Track and Field and Cross Country Official and the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. He also currently serves as an Instructor of Paralegal Studies at the Berean Institute in Philadelphia.
DeLeon has also practiced before the United States Court of International Trade, the United States Court of Military Appeals, and the United States Army Court of Review. One of DeLeon’s most rewarding professional experiences include serving his country with distinction as an Officer in the United States Army Corps of Engineers for the duration of 1970 to 1985.
As a United States Arm Captain of Engineers and Legal Officer for the Eastern United Army Engineer District, DeLeon represented the Corps of Engineers in a complex land use litigation cases. This experience enables him to travel extensively throughout the United States and abroad.
