Continuing in its tradition of promoting new ideas on how financial markets can function more effectively, The Journal of Financial Transformation published “The New Financial Factory for Innovation Economic Development,” by Thomas E. Vass, President, The Private Capital Market, Inc. (August 2009).
In his article, Vass describes how financial institutions in metro regions can create new investment securities that function as a component of a regional securities market for small private technology firms. “Our nation faces an economic crisis in unemployment if we do not move forward on an entirely new financial infrastructure in each metro region,” said Vass.
Vass has been discussing how new web-based tools can be implemented to help unemployed workers in Hickory, Greensboro, and Rocky Mount North Carolina discover and implement ideas for starting high tech companies.
“We need to place the new tools directly in the hands of the unemployed scientists, engineers and technical workers,” said Vass. “Then, we need to create the local capital markets in each community to fund the new firms so that they can grow.”
In his article, Vass extends the work of several European-based economists, who had published research in The Journal of Financial Transformation on how new securities for innovation work in the European financial community.
