Jimmy Buffettt Tribute Live In Princeton, WV

The Denver Foundation's Little Buddy Radio in Partnership with Chuck Mathena Center host a Fundraiser to Celebrate Summers End.

(1888PressRelease) September 03, 2008 - Parrotheads in the two Virginias are rejoicing. “Parrotheads” the extreme fans of singer/songwriter Jimmy Buffett are in for a big treat, when the Parrots of the Caribbean, the ultimate salute to Jimmy Buffett, perform live on stage at the brand new Chuck Mathena Center in Princeton Saturday September 13, 2008. POTC band is the headline entertainment for the first ever “Little Buddy Luau” in conjunction with Little Buddy Radio. The Little Buddy Luau is a joint fundraiser for the Denver Foundation and the Chuck Mathena Center.

“Little Buddy” is the name affectionately given to television icon Bob Denver’s character by his best pal “The Skipper” on the mega-popular Gilligan’s Island television show. Denver was a Princeton, WV resident for many years preceding his death in 2005. Denver’s wife Dreama continues to oversee Little Buddy Radio and the non-profit Denver Foundation and their work for disadvantaged children. She plans to attend the event to meet her late husband’s many fans, and came up with the idea of bringing the Buffett tribute to the area because of a huge personal appearance the Gilligan’s Island stars did on stage with Jimmy Buffett in the late 1990’s. “It was a perfect combination of island castaways and island music. Jimmy Buffett fans went nuts when they saw the real Gilligan, Mary Ann and the Professor on stage with Jimmy. They just seemed to fit together”, remembers Ms. Denver.

The Parrots of the Caribbean perfectly replicate the Jimmy Buffett concert experience, with note-perfect renditions of the biggest Buffett hits including “Margaritaville”, “Come Monday”, “Son of a Sailor”, “Cheeseburger In Paradise” and “A Pirate Looks at Forty”. In addition, the band will bring the brightly colored beach attire and laid back party vibe of a Jimmy Buffett show to the Chuck Mathena Center for the fun-filled “Little Buddy Luau POTC Pre-Party. Parrots of the Caribbean leader Dave Albrecht sounds and looks so much like Buffett that fans often mistake him for the real Buffett. The vocal and physical resemblance is so strong that Albrecht portrayed Jimmy Buffett for many years with the popular LEGENDS IN CONCERT show, familiar to Las Vegas and Branson visitors. Now, he brings the Buffett party on the road across America performing over 100 concerts a year with Parrots of the Caribbean.

Tickets for the first ever “Little Buddy Luau” and Parrots of the Caribbean Concert are available online at www.bobdenver.com and www.chuckmathenacenter.org. To purchase tickets by phone call 877.425.5128 or in person and at the Chuck Mathena Center box office, Monday-Friday 9am – 5pm. Two donation packages are available, some of which include a special luau dinner with the POTC band before the concert, the chance to win autographed Gilligan’s Island and other classic TV memorabilia, and much more.

“The Little Buddy Luau featuring The Parrots of the Caribbean may sell out due to the many die-hard Jimmy Buffett fans in the area, so folks that are interested in attending the show are encouraged to get their tickets in advance,” said Ms. Denver, who added “the Chuck Mathena Center is a wonderful venue for the show. If you haven’t been inside yet, you’ll be blown away…it’s a beautiful facility!”
