June 17, 2008 - Lincoln, Nebraska - Jeremy Hunt president of Hunt Irrigation, Inc, and president and founder of Earthwormjobs.com was awarded the prestigious 40 under 40 awards by the Lincoln Business Journal along with 39 other young entrepreneurs, executives and professional men and women in the Lincoln and Southeast Nebraska area.
When Jeremy Hunt started the irrigation company that bears his name 11 years ago, it was basically a one-man show. With the help of his wife and family, the business has grown to include four full-time employees and six to eight seasonal workers.
Hunt Irrigation’s growth was due to his reputation for quality work and water conservation. In just two years of operation Hunt Irrigation was voted Irrigation Company of the Year. Jeremy and Hunt Irrigation, Inc. focus has always been on water conservation, the systems he designs and his company install, along with the components he utilizes conserve between 50,000 and 120,000 gallons of water per year per residence.
Jeremy played an integral part, along with the assistance of the Mayor’s Water Taskforce committee of which he has be an active member on for six years, in adopting a rain sensor ordinance for both Lincoln, NE and Lancaster County. When such a sensor is wired to an underground irrigation system it aids in preventing the system from operating both during and after a rain event.
Even though Hunt is the CEO of Hunt Irrigation, Inc., he continues to aid in the installation, design, estimating, and marketing of his firm.
On top of that, the 39-year-old started Earthwormjobs.com. Hunt designed Earthwormjobs.com as a sole source career center for the Green/Golf Industry. Earthwormjobs.com has partnered with over 100 colleges and universities that offer programs in the Green/Golf Industry serving as a conduit for high school and college kids to find both permanent employment after graduation and internship opportunities during both their high school and college careers. Earthwormjobs.com has also partnered with several major Green Industry Certification programs that offer contractors already in the Green/Golf Industry an opportunity to raise their level of professionalism by obtaining industry specific qualification on both a national and worldwide scale.
Hunt has obtained both his CIC (certified irrigation contractor) and CLIA (certified landscape irrigation auditor) certifications from the Irrigation Association. Hunt is also 1 of 450 member currently enrolled in the EPA Water Sense Program. This program designed in conjunction with the Irrigation Association gives special accreditation to those manufacturers and irrigation contractors that either design and or manufacture irrigation components that conserve water as well as those irrigation contractors that design underground irrigation systems that also conserve our most precious natural resource, water.
