  • (1888PressRelease) July 04, 2014 - Jennifer S. Wilkov has joined the faculty of the prestigious Omega Institute and will teach a workshop about surviving life's struggles which will be held at the main location at 150 Lake Drive, Rhinebeck, NY, during Friday-Sunday, August 8-10, 2014.

Ms. Wilkov will talk about the seven steps to remaining fabulous and focused when an unexpected crisis hits and how to re-engage and thrive after facing life's biggest challenges. During her portion of the workshop, Ms. Wilkov will share the stories of what happened when she found herself at the center of a legal storm where she was incarcerated in Rikers Island for a crime she says she didn't commit, how the criminal justice system failed to uphold her rights to fair prosecutorial practices and proper representation, and how it has changed and shaped her life as she has helped to change and shape the lives of others. She will also talk about how she continues to support others with the important skills needed to build better relationships, personally and professionally, and to speak up about the issues they care about with loved ones, in the workplace, and in their lives.

Ms. Wilkov has previously addressed her controversial case in her award-winning feature article that appeared in the April 2009 issue of Marie Claire and during her March 2009 interview on CNBC Squawk Box. She has also spoken publicly about it during her TEDx Talk at the TEDxBroadStreetNY event in June 2011, which was held near Wall Street in New York City. Three years after she was falsely accused and incarcerated in Rikers Island, F.I.N.R.A., the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, denied all claims in their entirety against Ms. Wilkov, proving her innocence and pointing to the failures and negligence of her firm's compliance supervision, which they concealed from the criminal prosecution process years earlier.

"I'm delighted to have the unique opportunity to share these important insights with the attendees of the Omega Institute summer programs this year," says Jennifer S. Wilkov. "Going to jail as an innocent man or woman is a fear held by many across the United States. Oftentimes, we are uncertain about what we are going to do when we are hit with what appears to be a devastating situation and, moreover, we are not confident about how we are going to handle it. What most people fear is to be judged, not by the justice system but by society at large. All of us need to learn that you have the right to remain fabulous-in every situation, circumstance and condition-and that we can all make a difference. I'm thrilled to bring this important message to this year's attendees."

Ms. Wilkov will teach along with Holly Landau, a former U.S. Army officer serving mostly at the Pentagon who survived open heart surgery against all odds, and Manny Goldman, author of The Power of Personal Growth and the founder of the Internet website ItsAllAboutWomen.com, during her weekend workshop in conjunction with other prestigious
teachers who will be teaching during this year's prestigious program lineup such as Gregg Braden, President Bill Clinton, Jane Fonda, David Gershon, Byron Katie, Pema Chodron, Dan Millman, Ram Dass, Bobby McFerrin, Mike Dooley, Pat Mitchell, Alex Grey, Elizabeth Lesser, Gay Hendricks, Roger Jahnke, Victoria Moran, Carolyn Myss, Diana Nyad, James Redfield, Don Miguel Ruiz, M.J. Ryan, Brene Brown, Bernie Siegel, Jill Bolte Taylor, Eckhart Tolle, Ted Turner, James Van Praagh, Suzanne Vega, Lindsay Wagner, Montel Williams, Rodney Yee, and many more.

Wilkov's passion for communication has led to her being a # 1 radio show host on WomensRadio, an international #1 best-selling award-winning author, an international keynote speaker, an award-winning freelance writer, a successful book business consultant and entrepreneur. She survived being incarcerated in one of New York's and the nation's most violent prisons, Rikers Island, after inappropriately being told to plead guilty to a crime she didn't commit by an attorney who mishandled her case. Her Sixth Amendment right was then overlooked by the judge in her case when she was denied her request for an adjournment to seek new representation after her attorney was granted a withdrawal just prior to her sentencing hearing.

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) denied in their entirety charges of fraud, withholding material facts, failure to disclose and breach of franchise agreement which were brought by Ameriprise Financial against Ms. Wilkov as a third party respondent during an arbitration held in May 2011. Ms. Wilkov continues to pursue an appeal in the New York State criminal justice system.
