November 27, 2008 - Host of Dark Mantis Internet talk show, Jeanette Michelle states that she is actually proud to be an American and proud of America’s decision in choosing President elect Barack Obama. Even though there are still some Americans perpetuating racism, its considered a drop in the bucket and hopefully, Americans will ignore their ignorance.
“We as Americans can move forward and ignore these people who are perpetuating racism,” says Jeanette Michelle. “I started this talk show because I wanted to make a difference. I wanted to show the world that we as Americans could finally come together – black or white and discuss issues, books, music and etceteras without making it a racial issue. This election has really been stressful for all of us as well as Obama. I pray for him and his family to have strength during their journey.”
Although Jeanette Michelle is optimistic, her co-host, Autrey still believes that American still has a long way to go. Autrey is the political Junkie co-host that often times discuss political topics that is often centered on race. Jeanette Michelle strives to not make Dark Mantis Internet talk show divisive in reference to racial problems in the United States, but admit it’s hard not to. “People want to here it and talk about it,” says Jeanette Michelle. “If this is a way for them to vent, then periodically I will open my show for these discussions. I suppose its best not to run and face this monster dead on.”
