December 29, 2007 - Jeff Davis, president of JDavis Architects, PLLC (www.jdavisarchitects.com), a full-service architecture, landscape architecture and interior design firm, has announced that the HighPark Shopping Center, located in Raleigh’s historic Five Points district, has been named a recipient of the City of Raleigh’s Sir Walter Raleigh Award for Community Appearance. Designed by JDavis, HighPark was one of 17 award winners recognized at a public ceremony held Nov. 6 at the Fletcher Opera Theater in the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts. The Sir Walter Raleigh Award honors projects, groups and individuals that have made a difference in improving the visual and natural environment of the City of Raleigh.
The HighPark Shopping Center received an award for the commercial category, which recognizes new construction or adaptive use of existing non-residential developments that are open to the public. JDavis designed the renovations and additions to the shopping center that included refinishing the exterior façade in brick and stucco, covering the sidewalks with decorative fabric awnings and building a covered plaza to provide outdoor dining areas.
