Japanese Language Distance Education Course

World first Distance Education Course for Japanese Language Proficiency Test with interactive Multimedia CD was released by Consul General of Japan Yoshinori Yakabe and the first copy accepted by Vel Tech group director K V D Kishore Kumar. Dr P V Navaneethakrishnan Former Director Anna University presided over the function in Chennai.


(1888PressRelease) January 03, 2008 - Hayakawa's Japanese language school, has commenced distance education course by developing a multimedia interactive ''Learn Japanese CD,'' a first of its kind in the world.

The CD contained 165 digital pages, which included stroke orders with pronunciation for Hiragana, Katakana and 140 Kanji characters to meet the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) level four requirement, designed for beginners, Mr S P Chenthilkumar, Director of the institute said.

The school also brought out a book, containing 20 lessons on conversation pattern and each sentence was given in transliteration and meaning in English which corresponds to the sentences in the book, he added.

The learners, after going through the CD, could clear the level four course after attending the contact classes for five days, covering 20 hours. These would enable the reader to have interaction with professional native Japanese, he said.

The cost of undergoing the level four course, through distance education was fixed at Rs 2,980 and the students could appear for the examination conducted by Japan Foundation on the first Sunday of December every year in the city.

Mr Chenthilkumar said distance education centres would be set up in Thanjavur, Nagercoil, Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu and Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala.

He said more than 2,500 students have enrolled for learning Japanese language and those who completed Level three course get immediate employment in top IT companies, which had tie-ups with Japan.

He said the company has been approved as Japanese Language School by Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC), Delhi, which gives 50 per cent reimbursement on Tuition fees on successful completion of JLPT level four and level three examinations for engineering graduates and also for students pursuing software courses.
