October 25, 2006 - Bangalore(India) October 23, 2006 – Jalian Systems, a Bangalore based software company, has released version 1.0 of opensource Java GUI testing tool - Marathon. Marathon will enable organizations to automate repetetive testing tasks and provides significant gains in quality of delivered products.
“Most organizations are doing after-the-code testing. That is not the right approach. Testing should start along with the development. Unfortunately, most automation tools in the market do not support such testing.” commented Dakshinamurthy Karra, CEO of Jalian Systems. “With Marathon, testing engineers will be able to start automation as soon as development starts. They need not wait for application UI to stabilize, as the Marathon scripts themselves can be factored into modules”.
An earlier version of Marathon has been used within a project using Agile methodologies. “The test team is able to keep pace with the development team during development” adds Karra. “Though that version did not have all the capabilities of this new release”.
Along with this release Jalian Systems also announced that they are in development of an integrated testing environment built on top of Marathon, currently named Marathonite. While Marathonite will be a commercial product, Marathon remains licensed under the LGPL. Marathonite is slated for a release in the first quarter of 2007. It will add features such as workspaces, applet and webstart support, data-driven test cases using CSV files, and requirement tracking.
More details about Marathon and Marathonite are available at the website http://www.marathontesting.com.
