September 21, 2007 - Merritt Island, Florida: Jaguar Merritt Island, the leading dealer for Jaguar in Merritt Island, FL, has announced the launch of the 2009 Jaguar -XF. The four-door, five-passenger XF will be available with a range of two engines featuring six-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel-mounted paddles for manual gear selection. The engine choices are: a 4.2-liter naturally-aspirated V8 or a 4.2-liter supercharged V8. In naturally-aspirated form, the XF develops 300bhp and 310 lb.-ft. of torque. The supercharged version develops 420bhp and 408 lb.-ft. of torque.
According to Jaguar, three trim levels will be offered in the US market - Luxury, Premium Luxury and Supercharged. It comes with a trunk capacity of 17.6 cu. ft. (500 liters). Customers can fold down the rear seats and add a 14.8 cu. ft. (420 liters) of storage space.
Driver assistance features in the XF include: Electronic Brake Assist, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Anti-lock Braking System, Dynamic Stability Control, Cornering Brake Control and Engine Drag Torque Control. The Understeer Control Logic used for the first time in a Jaguar, decelerates the car and helps to restore grip to the front wheels when required. When the car is turned on, the Jaguar Drive Selector rises into the palm of the hand, and can be rotated to select park, reverse, neutral, drive and sequential mode.
