January 16, 2007 - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – Acne can be a major issue in both teenagers and adults. Acne affects not only the sufferer’s physical appearance, but also their self-esteem and sentiments of self-worth. Many sufferers are often afraid to participate in social activities because they worry about how others may see them.
Acne is often perceived to be more common among teenagers. However, as Jamie Lockwood, a 30 year old from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, discovered, a grown up is as likely to face acne problems as a teenager.
“I had a major acne problem for many years during my teenhood,” said Jamie. “And I thought the problem would go away when I went to college. But it didn’t.”
Jamie found that his acne problem affected him, physically, psychologically, and socially. As an adult sufferer of acne, he thought that his problem was easier to deal with because adults are able to accept the psychological effects better than teenagers. However, he found that the consequences of acne scars could be severe since acne has been generally perceived to be a teenager-specific problem.
Jamie was able to overcome his acne problems with the help of some resources that he found in the Internet. “I was really lucky to have found an excellent resource that solved my acne issue,” said Jamie.
Jamie has set up a blog at http://acnejamie.blogspot.com to detail his ‘battles’ with acne and also the solution that he eventually found that helped him beat the problem.
