November 29, 2008 - IPF Inc. a long time extruder of specialty thermo form films, has recently started to produce ECO-THERM PET roll stock for thermoformers and packagers made 100% from reclaimed plastic bottles. The FDA approved material can also be manufactured so it is also biodegradable and compostable in a wide range of environments including landfills, industrial and home compost facilities or any environment where there is continual microbial activity. Material is also recyclable and has no negative impact on existing recyling streams or supplies.
Recently perfected, this new carbon footprint reducing option is a cost competitive alternative to less eco friendly materials such as PVC or OPS and costs less than traditional APET. Excellent clarity. strength, crack resitance, ability to perform in low temperatures, and lack of storage or handling requirements make it ideal for a wide range of food and non food applications.
Closed loop programs are also being offered where returned plastic bottles will be remanufactured into new material produced for the company or institution returning the bottles. Today, 8 out of 10 plastic bottles end up in landfills with the avergae person discarding 166 bottles annually.
Cost competitive material is FDA approved and can be suppied biodegradable and compostable, high clarity or in tinted or opaque colors.
Excellent strength, heat resistance and freezer capabilies make it viable for many food and non food applications.
