January 10, 2009 - Phil Jacobson of Package Web Deals finds it tough to explain to his wife the relationship he has, and the time he spends with his new found partner (and CEO of their newly formed internet start up) Daniel McClintock. Since meeting on the popular social networking site Twitter (www.twitter.com) they not only found a great deal in common but quickly went on to form a fast growing company based on providing effective marketing and web design to brick and mortar businesses.
When quizzed about the sanity behind starting a company with someone he has never met, Mr. Jacobson said “business requires an amount of trust. If someone is going to try to deceive you, they will. Meeting them is unlikely to change it. But we do have contracts”.
“I may not have shaken his hand yet, but I know what he looks like at 2:30 in the morning after 18 hours of straight work” he said. The pair share information and collaborate on a daily basis using the internet. “We communicate daily despite differing time zones. But, my wife was starting to wonder what I was doing and to whom I was video conferencing with at 2:30am on my PC” said Mr. Jacobson.
The internet has become a haven for business matching and an array of joint business ventures among independent self-styled “internet marketers” and major corporations alike. Many up and coming entrepreneurs looking to start a home based business or company are taking full advantage of the internet to locate and procure partnerships and outsourcing.
Package Web Deals CEO Daniel McClintock said “I knew from the first interaction with Phil that I wanted to work with him. He compliments my skill set perfectly. A perfect match.” Falling short of declaring more than a healthy admiration for each other’s professional skills, and after clocking up 100’s of hours of Skype time (free web based application for chat, voice chat and video conferencing) they have successfully launched a service that they claim will “recession proof” any small business with a pulse.
“Business owners know they have to do something now to avoid the recession and retain their customers. They want more bang for their marketing dollar and real, quantifiable results” said Mr. McClintock.
Mr. McClintock claims that the looming recession spells good news for his business and looks forward to a busy and prosperous 2009. With a growing client base and regional representatives in three US states as well as internationally business they are preparing for a large increase in demand for their services. Chief Marketing Executive and partner Mr. Jacobson, has even managed to convince his wife that he is conducting a serious business out of his home office while vacating their bed until the early hours of the morning. “I got her to meet Daniel on the webcam, so she knows it’s not a 21 year old Brazilian girl I am chatting to at 2:30 in the morning.”
