International School in the Philippines, Opens First Capital Market and Entrepreneurship Center

Southville International School and Colleges in the Philippines launches Capital Market and Entrepreneurship Center to empower students and entrepreneurs by providing them trainings and seminars. This is first in the Philippines done by an academic institution.


(1888PressRelease) October 03, 2008 - With its commitment to promote, develop and advance awareness and knowledge of capital market and entrepreneurship in the Philippines, Southville International School and Colleges (SISC), a premiere international school in BF Homes International, Las Piñas City launched the first Capital Market and Entrepreneurship Center (CMEC) in the Philippines during the 18th founding anniversary of SISC on September 18, 2008.

Present in the inauguration was Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) President, Atty. Francis Ed Lim who expressed his strong support for SISC’s advocacy to bring to the academic and business communities in South Metro Manila, actual and real time daily stock trading transactions through the PSE.

Director General Antonio Y. Ortiz of Technology Resource Center (TRC) who also attended the inauguration commended the strengthening of the SISC-TRC partnership in bringing livelihood training programs to south of Manila through the Center.

Mr. Reynaldo Nograles, Chairman of the Capital Market Institute of the Philippines (CMIP), and the investment expert at CMEC disclosed that the Center as the Secretariat of the CMIP would provide the needed support in the conduct of the Investment Training Accreditation Program (ITAP). Geared towards nationwide training of college instructors in teaching investment, financial management, and capital market and securities market subjects, ITAP runs an accreditation program for educators in which qualified applicants are provided a one-week scholarship training prior giving them the teaching accreditation battery exams.

According to Dr. Violeta Lazaro, SISC Director for Business Education, one of the objectives of the center is to serve as incubation shop for Business Education students in preparing their business plans, research, feasibility studies and in designing and developing prototypes of their products.
