June 12, 2009 - Richard P. Brown, MD, co-author of the new book How to Use Herbs, Nutrients, and Yoga in Mental Health Care (WW Norton, January 2009), and internationally renowned pioneer of CAM (Complementary and Alternative Medicine), will give a lecture and workshop for psychotherapists entitled “Integrate Stress-Reduction Techniques into Your Practice”, on Friday, June 12, from 7 pm to 10 pm, at the New York Open Center, 83 Spring Street, New York, NY. Dr. Brown is Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University in New York. He is a certified teacher of Aikido (4th Dan), Yoga, Qi Gong, and meditation. He developed a neurophysiological theory on the effects of yoga breath on the mind and body, particularly its benefits for stress, anxiety, depression, and trauma.
Dr. Brown is an expert on integrative approaches to psychiatry, including the use of supplements such as SAM-e and Rhodiola Rosea and mind-body practices. He co-authored The Rhodiola Revolution and Stop Depression Now. Dr. Brown maintains a practice in New York City.
