InSpirit - A Yoga Festival With Devamrita Swami April 17-25

Whoever said Yoga is just a classroom experience. Yoga is an adventure leading up to self awareness and this spring, we present to you the Ultimate Adventure - Inspirit – Yoga festival April 17-25.

From April 17-25th, experience a variety of workshops - from mantra meditation and ecological sustainability to spiritual accounting - facilitated by Devamrita Swami, an urban monk from New Zealand with over 35 years of spiritual practice. Accompanying him is Badahari Dasa, a yogi and a seasoned musician who has released several albums on devotional music.

Join us as several Yoga Studios - Moksha, Jiva Mukti and Yoga Sanctuary; Student groups at University of Toronto and York, and other organizations like The Faith and Common Good come together to explore, discover and learn from the ancient eastern teachings. These specially designed events feature interactive discussions presenting an authentic philosophical alternative to today's changing paradigms, guided mantra meditation sessions enabling you to enhance your potential, and finally, gourmet vegan meals, which promise to leave you wanting more. InSpirit also offers you a unique networking opportunity within the growing yoga and spiritual community in Toronto

• Friday, April 24: Roar Sound – Mantra Meditation Workshop
• Saturday, April 25: Perfect Escape – A spiritual retreat

This is a non-profit initiative, with pre-registration event fee for all workshops in the range of $10 – $20. Special free events for students. Please ask us about our student discounts at other events and for our festival passes.

About the facilitators:
Devamrita Swami graduated from Yale University in 1972. At this time he came in contact with the ancient teachings of the east through A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada and his works. His attraction to this transcendental information was immediate and the effect profound. Ever since Devamrita Swami travels around the world constantly to inspire people to embrace the knowledge locked in Bhagavad Gita and awaken oneself to adopt a Vegetarian, Environmentally Conscious and Yoga lifestyle. Traveling at least 10 months every year he stops at many countries like Australia , New Zealand , USA , South, Africa, Russia , India , Argentina , Chile , the UK , Scandinavia, and Central Europe . His strategic guidance has proved invaluable to students, executives and yoga enthusiasts seeking to balance their spiritual and professional life. He has presented to the Russian chamber of commerce on Spiritual Economics and is also the guiding and directing force setting up the 'Institute for a sustainable society' in New Zealand, an interesting and much needed project the details of which can be checked at http://sustainablesociety.org.nz/.

Devamrita Swami has authored several books like Searching for Vedic India, Perfect Escape, Beyond the barriers of limited science and Spiritual Greed. This is his third annual visit to Toronto . In his past visits he has addressed over 1000 people on topics as diverse as Power of mind, Yoga, Vegetarianism, Spiritual economics, Environmentalism and much more. His presentation at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto , attracted an audience of over 100 business professionals eager to explore the offerings of ancient knowledge of yoga and its application to Spiritual Economics. At the York University , students experienced a different flavor, when he engaged them in a deep discussion about Trance Dancing in the Material World. Badahari Das grew up is Southern California and from an early age, performed with jazz and classical groups. He received a degree in Music Composition from USC and spent two years in Europe with the Institute for Advanced Musical Studies Orchestra and Composition departments. In 1975, he became involved in an intense spiritual pursuit and spent the next years practicing Bhakti Yoga, studying the Vedas and learning Sanskrit and Bengali chants, songs and mantras.
