December 21, 2007 - Hubble Bubble was created in a blur, one week in mid December 2007. From the discovery of the BubblePLY technology to the creation of the website, all in less time than it takes to download an unpopular torrent.
The instigators of this innovative web video parody are a couple of Aussie larrikins, weaned on the culture that is known for producing biting satire such as D-Generation, Fast Forward, Full Frontal, The Chaser, Pizza, The Wedge, Comedy Inc, and the straight faced humour that Aussies are known for. The brothers, who live in sunny Brisbane, have been working on ideas for new edge web comedy for some time now.
"We just didn't see anything out there that really hit the nail on the head." said Damian, the creator of Hubble Bubble, "Some of our favourite comedy tv shows are Robot Chicken, Family Guy, Scrubs, The Goodies, Monty Python's Flying Circus." He feels that style of comedy hasn't made the leap to the web yet. "People do comedy blogs, upload funny videos, and troll around commenting on stuff, but nothing has brought these pursuits together."
Until now. Utilising BubblePLY technology, the Hubble Bubble team are able to overlay speech bubbles and subtitles to videos sourced from video sharing sites.
"It's revolutionary, now you can show your opinion of a video creatively. Why waste time on Digg style one-liners when you can have 30 seconds or more to have your say."
The first episode comprises nine short video clips ranging in length from 30 seconds to five minutes. Hubble Bubble parody the PC & Mac ads, the antiquated Commodore MAX, the popular Ukrainian Army ad, McDonald's, and Elmo from Sesame Street, as well as several other oddities.
When asked whether he thought Hubble Bubble would be a success, Damian replied, "Well, anything's possible, but it's just as likely it'll go unnoticed by the masses. Like the World Wide Weed, remember that?"
Hubble Bubble launches today, with regular installments planned well into the future.
"Writer's strike? That's only for writers with jobs!"

Damian
Damian is the creator, designer and developer of Hubble Bubble, and a prolific bubbler. When he's not sitting around doing nothing, he freelance designs websites. He has been developing websites since 1994, starting out with the Lynx browser and ASCII art. He setup a popular global community in the early days of the web, catering to the cannabis culture. From 1995 to 2000 the global cannabis culture website endured, until some bastard decided to domain sit on worldwideweed.com. Damian has a long association with computing technologies and media, from the Commodore 64 and writing a regular column for the local Australian Commodore & Amiga Review, to spending ten years tinkering with web technologies and making no money. He has no hobbies or life.
Ross
Ross is the brother of Damian, head editor of Hubble Bubble, and a comedy genius and author in his own right. Whilst focussed primarily on the culture of gaming, he also has an eye for piss taking popular culture. For more than a year, he was the lead reviewer for reviewgamer.com, and has a dream to one day develop another game review portal. Ross would like to be a stand up comedian, but just hasn't gotten around to it yet. He has a life, but has decided to throw it all in for the glamour of bludging on the dole.
