July 23, 2008 - Irving, Texas – Prostate Seed Institute announces that the fastest growing solution for prostate cancer is seed implantation. The seed implant procedure is simple, quick, and produces excellent results. The advantages of this choice are significant, since complications are usually temporary and mild compared to other solutions for prostate cancer. This procedure can help pilots resume their duties after treatment because recovery is much quicker and has fewer complications because the procedure does not require major surgery. Pilots who have received a prostate seed implant should obtain all documentation regarding his diagnosis and treatment employed. Paperwork is then sent to VFS. They coordinate and relay documents to the FAA who then review the documentation. It usually takes the FAA a couple of weeks and then they send a medical back to the patient so that he can resume his flying duties.

Once pilot is diagnosed with prostate cancer, he is then removed from flight status. Utilizing prostate brachytherapy (seed implant therapy) usually has the pilot back flying within four months. That includes the waiting time for the prostate seed implant which takes approximately four to six weeks. The most amazing thing is that there are no restrictions to the pilot’s flying abilities after this treatment.
As the pilot is healing and their Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) is coming down, the data is submitted from the doctors to the virtual flight surgeon who forwards it to the FAA. The FAA then grants the release for the pilot to resume flying.
