June 30, 2009 - Independence Party of America Chairman Frank MacKay harks back to his music industry roots by starring in a new video series where he gives advice to up-and-coming unsigned bands and musicians.
In this new series which just premiered its first two segments on the popular YouTube website, MacKay gives various advice to unknown bands trying to succeed and rise in the music business. The unscripted series deliberately stays away from trappings and flash, and instead simply features MacKay sitting in a chair talking directly to the viewer.
“I listen to unsigned music every day,” says MacKay. “There are so many bands out there with potential, bands willing to work hard, and learn. I thought these new videos would be a great way to reach as many people as I can.”
This new video series can be seen on YouTube, and also on MacKay’s myspace page at myspace.com/frankmackay.
Frank MacKay has a long history of managing, producing and booking bands, and is an outspoken supporter of unsigned musicians and independent music. He’s managed such people as C.J. Ramone of the legendary Ramones, and Criss Angel, even producing Angel’s early demos. MacKay has also owned a string of nightclubs and negotiated almost 100 record deals.
A book by MacKay and his brother Gordon called “The Network Interviews,” based on the 80’s music interview newspaper they started then and reprinting the best interviews by stars such as Bon Jovi, Poison and more, is due this August.
