  • New York, NY (1888PressRelease) November 20, 2014 - Nonprofits are changing the world, and Merryck & Co is partnering with the National Human Services Assembly (NHSA) to help nonprofit leaders succeed.

As nonprofit organizations now comprise more than 10 percent of the economy, Merryck & Co is teaming up up with NHSA to help more nonprofit executives and social entrepreneurs gain exclusive access to a free mentoring opportunity. The partnership allows select and eligible leaders from NHSA's member organizations to work 1:1 with a Merryck Mentor for six months to accelerate their leadership capabilities. NHSA members make up a $62 billion sector that employs 1,000,000 workers, operating from more than 100,000 locations.

Merryck & Co has been doing pro bono mentoring since 2010. According to Merryck & Co Americas CEO David Reimer, "Partnering with NHSA gave us a chance to formalize this aspect of giving back to our communities. For our mentors as well as our clients, it's often a life-changing experience."

"We were delighted when Merryck & Co reached out to NHSA about making the program available to nonprofit executives," president and CEO of NHSA Irv Katz said. "Three NHSA members benefited in 2013, and three more are starting now. This is an important investment in the future of the nonprofit sector."

Participating nonprofits in Merryck & Co pro bono mentoring engagements include: Junior Achievement, National Urban League, Meds & Food for Kids, National AfterSchool Association, Healthy Families America, Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network and more.

"The relationship with Merryck came at an amazing time for me. Just perfect. I really needed an outlet outside the organization to hear some of the challenges and give a different perspective," said Chinwe Effiong, president of the Africa region at JA Worldwide.

The selection process for participating in this free executive mentoring program is competitive, and NHSA requests that its member organizations nominate a candidate for consideration. Finalists are interviewed before being paired with a particular Merryck Mentor.
