ICON+ improves service delivery with new Metropolitan Area Network from Datacraft

(1888PressRelease) April 23, 2009 - The MAN implementation will leverage on the country’s first 10 GB fibre optic infrastructure to give corporate users in high-rise buildings swift access to new ICON+ Metronet services at 10, 100 or 1,000 Mbps (mega bytes per second).

As a leading network provider in Indonesia, ICON+ has its sights set on becoming the preferred choice for telecommunications services users in the country. A subsidiary of PT PLN (Persero), the biggest electricity company in Indonesia, ICON+ provides fibre optic network which extends for more than 5,000 km across Java and Bali utilising PLN’s right of ways. Its broad client base consists of telecommunication operators, banks, manufacturers, and ISPs including contracts with the country’s biggest cellular, fixed line operator and the largest Indonesian bank.

This project requires Datacraft to provide IT services including Metro Ethernet routing infrastructure, Network design and topology, as well as staff training and ongoing support through Uptime maintenance services. Upon completion, the new MAN will enable telecommunications service carriers and business users alike to deliver a wide variety of sophisticated services quickly, reliably and cost-effectively to thousands of customers across the targeted area. The high volume network will also allow a wide variety of services to be offered including: Point-to-Point Layer 2 MPLS VPN; Ethernet Relay Services (ERS); Ethernet Wire Services (EWS); Multipoint Layer 2 MPLS VPN; Layer 3 MPLS VPN; Intranet; Extranet; and basic Internet access.
