November 12, 2007 - Melissa Beattie-Moss states- “ Understanding the exact mechanism behind hypnosis may require decoding the workings of the unconscious mind. While it may be near-impossible to arrive at that knowledge, hypnosis has come a long way”.
In truth, hypnosis is something everyone has experienced in their everyday lives to some extent. If you’ve ever found yourself totally engrossed in a book or movie and lost track of all time or didn’t hear someone calling your name, you were experiencing a hypnotic trance.
The scientific community as a whole has come to the overall conclusion that there is considerable power in suggestion.
“Can you be hypnotized? Most people like to think that they can’t. But, in fact, modern research shows…that hypnosis is not an all-or-nothing phenomenon, but rather a continuum. Most people can be hypnotized to some degree - the only question is how far?” Psychologist Diedre Barrett writes.
Many hypnosis enthusiasts claim that “hypnosis is about logically approaching the creative mind”. However; there are also many critics who say that “the power of the mind is indeed a positive and amazing thing. However the thing about power is that there is always the human potential for it to be abused“.
Regardless of what position you may take on this subject, there is one common thread here: the often times underestimated power of the mind!!
