May 01, 2009 - Hurricane Grill & Wings, the rapidly-growing, popular family restaurant concept, has expanded in Port St. Lucie, Fla., with the opening of its newest store at Kitterman Road, 6641 US Highway One.
The restaurant marks the third location on the Treasure Coast that is owned by long-time restaurateur Jeff Arrigoni.
The specialty at "Hurricanes" is uniquely savory chicken wings, offered in five categories and with a choice of over 30 signature sauces. Everything is cooked fresh to order with high quality ingredients, no trans fats, and environmentally friendly packaging. Other menu options range from salads to Certified Angus Burgers, Grilled Mahi-Mahi along with a full lineup of micro-brew beer and wine.
"Hurricane Grill & Wings' tropical, casual atmosphere is well suited to the Treasure Coast. It is like you’ve walked into a Caribbean vacation," he explained. "We are well liked by the business crowd during the day and widely popular with families desiring a fun, friendly and relaxed atmosphere."
Arrigoni, who is a multi-location franchisee, strongly believes in the Hurricane Grill & Wings concept. He opened his first Hurricane Grill & Wings in Jensen Beach (995 NE Jensen Beach Boulevard) in 2006 followed by the restaurant in Port St. Lucie (Promenade Building – 2202 SE Veterans Memorial Parkway) in 2007.
"This is where it all began. The Jensen Beach store is actually one of the original three Hurricanes," he said. "There is great brand recognition and it offers a franchisee the ability to operate a popular brand that has legs."
Arrigoni plans to open two new locations on the Treasure Coast, within 5-7 miles of each of the existing three restaurants.
Drawing on over 25 years of experience in the food service industry, Arrigoni started working in restaurants at age 16. A graduate of Florida International University, his career has included long stints with Steak & Ale, Bennigan's, Outback and Carrabba's Italian Grill.
"Customers want a stress-free, comfortable environment where they can kick back and enjoy great, affordable food," he said. "Our specialty wing flavors combined with our focus on fresh, made to order products cannot be beat when coupled with table service."
With the recent addition of open grills, Arrigoni says grilled wings are growing in popularity along with fresh fish, chicken and burgers.
The Kitterman Road location has 100 seats with both indoor and patio dining and offers live music Thursday through Saturday nights; Happy Hour from 3-6 p.m. with 2-for-1 draft beers; Bike Nights on Thursday and plans are underway for Reggae nights on Sundays.
Hours of operation are from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and until 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.
The original Hurricane Grill & Wings opened in Ft. Pierce, Fla., in 1995. Currently, there are 30 Florida locations with additional restaurants planned from Jacksonville to Miami. Expansion outside the state will be announced early summer 2009.
