May 12, 2009 - The rapidly-growing, popular family restaurant concept, Hurricane Grill & Wings, has opened in the new Bird Road Plaza at 14211 SW 42nd Street (Bird Road) in Miami.
The opening marks the restaurant’s first location in Miami-Dade County.
The specialty at "Hurricanes" is uniquely savory chicken wings, offered in five categories and with a choice of over 30 signature sauces. Everything is cooked fresh to order with high quality ingredients, no trans fats, and environmentally friendly packaging. Other menu options range from salads to Certified Angus Burgers, Grilled Mahi-Mahi along with a full lineup of micro-brew beer and wine.
Owned and operated by Miami resident Bowen Abitbol, the Hurricane Grill & Wings is located just east of the Winn-Dixie Plaza and is an out parcel of the shopping center.
Bowen, a first time franchisee, feels the Hurricane Grill & Wings concept is a perfect fit. Drawing on over 15 years of experience in the food service industry, Bowen wanted to open a restaurant that had a comfortable setting geared to families.
"Hurricane Grill & Wings' tropical casual atmosphere is well suited to Miami. It's like you've walked into a Caribbean vacation," he explained. "Our customers' initial reactions have been extremely positive. They like the flexibility of the menu and the quality and the emphasis placed on value: a family of four can dine at Hurricanes for under $40."
The restaurant currently has 47 seats; however, 24 patio seats will be added within the upcoming weeks. Hours of operation are Sunday-Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday-Saturday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Bowen plans to open another Miami location in the near future.
The original Hurricane Grill & Wings opened in Ft. Pierce, Fla., in 1995. Currently, there are 30 Florida locations with additional restaurants planned from Jacksonville to Miami. Expansion outside the state will be announced early summer 2009.
