July 06, 2007 - Despite strong community condemnation of Gavin and Yvonne Frost for what many see as their Church and School of Wicca’s instructions to torture, molest, and rape children as early as 10 years of age as a religious rite, pagan authors such as Ann Moura have withdrawn from the event in apparent support of the Frosts. Others such as Lisa McShirley has withdrawn citing the method A.J. Drew has announced to use to battle the teachings of Child Molestation in our community. Most seem to feel that just as it was fair game for Gerald Gardner to take his magical gloves off in his battle against Adolf Hitler, it is acceptable to take the gloves off to battle the teachings of Child Molestation and especially those of Gavin and Yvonne Frost who have claimed such is part of the Wiccan Religion.
Despite what many feel are the Frost’s clear instruction to deflower children with the use of home made phallus at ages as young as 10 with the assistance of a girl’s father, many events such as Pagan Pride Day, Starwood, Sirius Rising, and others supporting Gavin and Yvonne Frost. A.J. Drew feels there must be at least one pagan event which stands clearly against the Frosts and their ilk, however the pagan community remains divided. Isaac Bonewitz has been credited with helping the Frosts to create the web site from which they continue to sell the material in question. Patricia Telesco writes joyfully about the Frosts attending festivals along side children. Janet Farrar and her late husband Stewart Farrar were featured in a video with Gavin Frost where it was publicly established that the Farrars had a long-standing friendship with the Frosts.
Margot Adler, author of Drawing Down the Moon, can be seen in a video production by the Frosts. The list goes on and on. Pagan leader after pagan leader has demonstrated time and time again that they will befriend and promote Gavin and Yvonne Frost despite what they have written. A.J. Drew, a new father, says enough is enough and he will do so in a very loud way at this year’s Real Witches Ball in Columbus, OH. He says he has been aware of the Frosts and their writings for some years, but had no idea how many pagan and Wiccan leaders had been supporting them for the last three decades. He had no idea how many festivals they continued to speak at or how many publishers promote their newer titles. He feels it is time to end the pagan community as a business and return it to the family based thing it once was.
Perhaps this event will mark a fundamental shift from the previous modern pagan credo of Live and Let Live to a new (and maybe more appropriate) one of Live and Let Die. Certainly, the taking of human life in modern day pagan rituals is as old as the Oak King and Holly King. Maybe now someone has decided to put such rites to modern applications. What better application than ridding the world of child molesters, rapists, and those who would teach that such conduct is not only acceptable but also religious?
