The Toyota RAV4 is a compact sport-utility vehicle, the smallest in the lineup of Toyota SUVs. The current Toyota RAV4 is the third generation SUV featuring some minor enhancements over the previous year’s models. A third row seating for kids in 2008 RAV4 makes it suitable vehicle for families having small children.
The 2008 Toyota RAV4 is among the versatile, compact crossover-type SUVs possessing favorable on-road manners, good ergonomics and a high level of quality. This is a highly evolved, well-packaged compact sport-utility vehicle that is placed between car-based station wagons and truck-based SUVs.
The 2008 RAV4 is offered in three distinct trim levels – Base, the performance-oriented Sport, and top-of-the-line Limited. It comes with a choice of four-cylinders and a V-6 engine. The standard 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine is equipped with variable valve timing with intelligence (VVT-i) and matched exclusively to a gated-shift four-speed automatic transmission. The smooth four-cylinder engine supplies166 horsepower and 165 pound-feet of peak torque at 4,000 rpm. The available 3.5-liter V-6 generates 269 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and 246 pound-feet of peak torque at 4,700 rpm. The V-6 is exclusively teamed with a gated-shift five-speed automatic transmission.
Toyota’s star safety system, which includes anti-lock braking with electronic brake-force distribution; brake assist; enhanced vehicle stability control; and traction control, is standard on the RAV4. Driver and passenger advanced front air bags; front seat passenger sensor; driver and front passenger seat-mounted side air bags; and first and second row roll-sensing side-curtain air bags are also among the safety gadgets.
