Hope Tech Global has found that offering constructive feedback to a rejected Chinese candidate can later yield a productive employee. Moving out from the American business model of simply saying “NO” to an applicant is bringing some very interesting and beneficial results.


Memphis, TN-AR-MS (1888PressRelease) May 11, 2009 - When we began interviewing at Hope Tech Global in Beijing, China we were struck by the eagerness of Chinese candidates to work for an honest and ethical foreign company for both the business experience and the work environment. It seems that working within an environment that is built upon principles of honesty and trust is worth more than the position being applied for in China. This being the case, we have found at Hope Tech Global that maintaining an edifying relationship with each rejected candidate is helping us train and prepare them to be in a position to contribute fruitfully to our company in the near future.

Our first candidate that I will refer to as Helen, had all the character that any employee would want: friendly, honest, loyal, service-oriented, capable and an eagerness to learn. However, her business experience was lacking to the point that the investment we would have to put into her for training was not going to offset our needs at the time. Since at Hope Tech Global we desire to make a positive impact in each life that we touch, not only our customers but our team members as well, I decided that offering Helen constructive feedback in the areas for her to improve in and also provided an invitation to her to re-apply in the future was a good way to begin implementing this principle.

I was pleasantly surprised by the response I received from her. After receiving my email Helen asked what resources she could go to that I recommended for her further development. I gave her some books she could order to begin reading and I offered to work through them with her. Thus began a mentoring relationship that is continuing to this day. I have found that she is more than eager to take my suggestions and looks forward to employment in the future with Hope Tech Global. I am actually helping to train and develop her now for future contribution to the company. I have found that opening my heart and living out the founding principles of Hope Tech Global, love, service and sacrifice is fostering the right kind of employee: honest, hard-working and loyal.
