September 27, 2007 - The rise in the number of home repossessions is leading to a subsequent rise in the number of residential properties being sold at auction according to a new report issued by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
In the second quarter of 2007, there were 5,120 residential properties sold at auction, the highest number for over two years and 22% more than in the previous quarter. Rising interest rates have reduced affordability for many in the housing market which has then led to an increase in the number of home repossessions in 2007. This increase is set to continue into 2008, with the RICS forecasting 124 repossessions a day next year.
Danny Luke of Quick Move (http://www.quickmovenow.com) commented: “Our Quick House Buying Service is designed to help people whose homes are being repossessed, long before they are sold at discounted prices at auction. By selling their property to Quick Move Now, home owners under threat of repossession should receive more money for their home than if it was sold at auction, giving them a better chance to clear their mortgage and any other debts. This also gives them a clear credit record, making it easier for them to borrow money in the future.”
Quick Move Now’s house buying service can help people avoid home repossession, at any stage before eviction. Selling a house through an estate agent can take months. If a property is repossessed, the mortgage lender will usually sell the property at auction where prices can often be 30% below market value. By selling to Quick Move Now, home owners under threat of repossession can avoid repossession, and the knock-on financial implications of having had a property repossessed.
