May 24, 2009 - Melbourne business award winner, Marlene Meier has come out of a successful home based business to help create jobs. At a time when most people are shying away from opening new businesses, Marlene has taken the bull by the horns establishing a 24 hour airport parking facility on the Tullamarine freeway near Melbourne Airport.
As part of the new development at Linfox’s Essendon Airport Fields Project, Marlene stands as an example of the fearless business people who bravely push ahead regardless of the odds. Says Marlene, “Call me crazy, but I am not one to stand around and do nothing while so many people are losing their jobs, I may not be able to create as many jobs as Mr Fox can, but every job created helps a whole family so here is my ‘plug’, I trust the community will give their patronage to this facility, it’s called Parking Port”.
A no nonsense business woman of senior years, Ms Meier is optimistic of the future for Australia adding. “I have seen this type of economic situation before, more than once in fact and, we will come through it better than before”.
Parking Port is adjacent to the Tullamarine Freeway at Airport West, or the newly named, Essendon Fields. The facility has a capacity of 500 secure parking spots servicing both Essendon Airport and Melbourne Airport. Just a quick 5 minutes to the terminal with Ms Meier’s ‘Free shuttle service’ it should become a favourite with the travelling public who have the need to park their cars.
At capacity, Marlene estimates a miumum of 15 jobs plus part timers and work for contract services.
