October 01, 2008 - Fort Lauderdale, FL: About the 2009 Honda Pilot - The 2009 Honda Pilot is a car-based SUV. For 2009, this model has more convenience features; more interior and cargo space; more accessible third row seats, and better mileage.
Engine
The 2009 Honda Pilot is given a 3.5-liter, i-VTEC, V6 engine that generates 250 horsepower at 253 lb ft of torque. Its four trims –LX, EX, EX-L and Touring are given Grade Logic Control, by which handling during ascent or descent gets better.
Other features of the 2009 Honda Pilot are Hill Start Assist; Honda’s Variable Cylinder Management, which switches off some of the cylinders when they are not needed; Variable Torque Management; four-wheel drive system and four-wheel independent suspension.
Interiors and exteriors
The most noticeable change for the interiors is in the third row. This row is now more easily accessible; it is given more occupant space as well as cargo space and legroom.
The center stack and center console get wider for this year. The interior’s other features include Honda satellite-linked navigation system™ with voice recognition and rearview camera; Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® technology; rearview mirror with rearview camera display; Honda DVD Rear Entertainment System; audio system; climate-control; tri-zone automatic climate control system with humidity control and air filtration, and USB audio interface.
The exteriors for the EX-L and Touring trims are marked by acoustic windshield with double pane glass. Tailgate with lift-up glass hatch and 17”wheels are standard for the exteriors of all the trims.
Safety
The 2009 Honda Pilot is part of Honda’s Safety for Everyone Program, an innovative and comprehensive set of safety features. This initiative aims to reduce the impact of accidents for Honda passengers, along with those of the vehicle with which it collides, as well as for pedestrians. These features include Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure; active front head restraints; advanced dual-stage, dual-threshold driver and front passenger SRS airbags; tire pressure monitoring system; anti-lock brakes; Lower Anchors and Tether for Children (LATCH) and brake assist.
