Hips 'Not Trusted' Says National Homebuyers

Half of all homebuyers say they wouldn't trust the contents of a Home Information Pack (Hip), according to new research, marking yet another setback for the government-backed initiative.

(1888PressRelease) July 12, 2007 - A survey conducted by Saga Group found that almost 50 per cent of consumers opposed the introduction of Hips, and that three quarters would consider lying in order to deliver a more impressive pack to the prospective buyer.

"We have been all too aware of the trials and tribulations concerning the introduction of Hips," commented Andrew Goodsell, chief executive of Saga Group.

"We are absolutely supportive of any measures aimed at simplifying and speeding up the home-buying process but it's clear that the general public still need convincing."

Respondents to a survey said that Hips were unnecessary and provided added costs and inconvenience to the seller.

Hips are expected to cost sellers an extra £400 to £700 when they are launched on August 1st.

The report shows the confusion and lack of clarity from government over the Hips requirement, says National Homebuyers.

Director Julian King says, "Prior to the original June 1st deadline, we were inundated with vendors who wanted to sell their property without having to shell-out for a Hips pack.

National Homebuyers are the UK's leading fast purchase property firm, guaranteeing a quick sale for any homeowner in the UK, regardless of their reason for sale or condition of their property. Additionally National Homebuyers does not require a Hips pack in place.

"Essentially, we are private buyers, so homeowners looking to avoid the Hips regulation from August 1st should contact us for an immediate sale of their property," says King.
