May 21, 2007 - According to Vivien Aldred, secretary of the Retirement Housing Group of the Home Builders Federation, there are continuing concerns that there will not be enough energy assessors or home inspectors to cope with demand.
While the AHIPP has repeatedly denied there will be a shortage, Ms Aldred has revealed that the lack of qualified assessors and inspectors is not the issue - it is to do with their accreditation.
"There are worrying signs of delays which will cause problems for accreditation - regardless of the numbers of energy assessors or home inspectors who have passed their exams, it seems it will take about four weeks to get them through the accreditation schemes to which they must belong," she told Citiwire.
"Yet five bodies have only just been approved by DCLG to operate schemes, and have yet to set up the registers required by law, which will hold the names of accredited assessors."
